Summary: The Procurement Specialist will support the Procurement Lead in executing procurement priorities aligned with business goals, managing the entire supply cycle from request for quote to order fulfillment. This role requires problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and implement objectives for both self and the team, focusing on short-term initiatives and long-term improvements. The position involves negotiating with suppliers, managing relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of commodities. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical mindset and experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate best cost & delivery with suppliers; place and follow up on PO’s for assigned commodities
- Manage effective working relationships with suppliers for PO execution
- Manage problems and schedule changes to ensure on-time delivery
- Update ERP to ensure accurate planning
- Develop new solutions under guidance and/or in a team setting
- Balance tactical execution with strategic initiatives necessary to drive cost and lead time reduction
- Work together with high-level individuals within the business
- Collaborate with Commodity Buyers on technical and commercial developments to enhance product knowledge
- Actively participate in supplier performance reviews
- Contribute to projects as a team member or lead small projects
- Manage the wing to wing procurement activities for assigned commodities, applying sourcing policy and interfacing between supplier and entity
Key Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Experience as a Commodity Buyer within an Engineering or Manufacturing environment
- Demonstrable technical mindset and attention to detail

The Commodity Buyer will support Procurement Lead executing Procurement Priorities in line with business goals and initiatives controlling the whole supply cycle (request for quote, negotiation, PO placement and order fulfilment). In this role you will use your experience and/or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and effect short term initiatives and long term departmental improvements.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Experience as a Commodity Buyer, within an Engineering or Manufacturing environment.
- A demonstrable technical mindset and approach with attention to detail.

Desired Characteristics:

- Experience of a manufacturing / engineering environment, Oil and Gas sector is preferred but not essential.
