Summary: The Auxiliary Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of a combined cycle power plant, collaborating closely with the Control Room Operator and Maintenance team. This position involves monitoring various systems, assisting with equipment operations, and adhering to safety protocols during normal operations and outages. The role requires experience with turbine equipment, particularly from GE and Mitsubishi.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform plant rounds and monitor combined cycle and balance-of-plant systems (HRSG, pumps, valves, cooling water, auxiliaries)
- Record operating data and report alarms or abnormal conditions
- Assist with equipment lineups, startups, and shutdowns
- Support water treatment systems and general plant operations
- Follow safety procedures, including LOTO and permit requirements
- Assist maintenance and outage activities as needed
Key Skills:
- High school diploma or GED
- Combined cycle power plant experience required
- Experience supporting GE and/or Mitsubishi turbine-generators preferred
- Familiarity with HRSG, water treatment, and balance-of-plant systems
- Basic mechanical knowledge and strong safety mindset
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
