Summary: Our client is seeking a DBA with expertise in SQL and Oracle development for a contract role based in Greater London. The position requires DV + NPPV3 clearance and involves working fully onsite, primarily in London with one day in Milton Keynes. The role includes responsibilities in database administration, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation, Configuration, Maintenance, and Performance of SQL and Oracle database systems.
- Monitoring and tuning databases to optimize server availability and troubleshooting performance issues.
- Creating database alerts and proactively monitoring and responding to alerts.
- Building environments based on standards and best practices aligned with operational and business requirements.
- Monitoring database maintenance scripts for backups, index rebuild/defragment, and database statistics.
- Producing, maintaining, and ensuring backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
- Providing application implementation, support, technical documentation, and problem-solving.
- Supporting application installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Availability for out-of-hours support as part of a support rotation.
Key Skills:
- Experience in database technologies with a strong understanding of SQL/Oracle development and scripting tools.
- Knowledge of Oracle DB Architecture, Performance, Installation & Configuration.
- Experience in database administration, including backups, maintenance, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Experience implementing high availability setups such as Always on HA, Mirroring, log shipping, and Microsoft Clustering.
- Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft SQL Server Stack – SSMS, SSAS, SSIS & SSRS.
- Experience working on Linux.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server internals and core database functionality (indexes, schemas, triggers, etc.).
- Good understanding of database architecture and design.
- Able to work to tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

This is a contract role initially for 6 months with good possibility of extension. Please note that this role is fully onsite - 4 days per week in London and 1 day onsite in Milton Keynes. Due to nature of the role DV + NPPV3 clearance is required.

- Experience in database technologies and a good understanding of SQL/Oracle development and scripting tools; Oracle DB Architecture, Performance, Database Intallation & Configuration
- Experience in database administration, including back-ups, maintenance, performance monitoring and troubleshooting, security management, patch management
- Experience in implementing high availability setups such as Always on HA, Mirroring, log shipping and Microsoft Clustering.
