Summary: The role of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Expert / Coach involves leading the design and delivery of SRE training programs and bootcamps to enhance SRE capabilities within the organization. This position is a 3+ month contract based in Cheshire, requiring a hybrid working arrangement with three days in the office. The expert will mentor teams and promote best practices in reliability engineering across various platforms. The role is pivotal in supporting the adoption of SRE principles across engineering, operations, and product teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver progressive, hands-on SRE training and bootcamps (foundation to advanced).
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual bootcamps, workshops, and awareness sessions.
  • Provide embedded coaching to support SRE transformation initiatives.
  • Tailor content for multiple platforms and environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, Private Cloud).
  • Conduct capability assessments and design targeted learning pathways.
  • Mentor SREs and engineering teams on reliability engineering, automation, and incident management.
  • Guide teams in defining and implementing SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets.
  • Promote best practices in observability, monitoring, incident response, and blameless postmortems.
  • Create and curate e-learning content, assessments, and certification pathways.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience as an SRE, SRE Coach, or Reliability Engineering specialist in large-scale environments.
  • Strong cloud expertise across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
  • Hands-on experience with automation and IaC (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of incident management, RCA, and reliability engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering technical training or bootcamps.
  • Familiarity with Google SRE, DevOps, and ITIL frameworks.

We are hiring for an experienced Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Expert / Coach to play a key role in shaping and scaling SRE capability across my client’s business. This is a 3+ month Contract based in Cheshire on a hybrid basis – 3 days per week in the office.
