Summary: Senior WordPress Developer required for a 6-month contract with an FMCG client in Glasgow. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in WordPress and PHP, with a strong focus on API integration and delivering high-performance solutions. This role allows for remote work with a requirement for two onsite visits per month. The position is classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and optimise custom themes, plugins, and features using secure WordPress practices.
- Design and implement integrations between WordPress and external systems using REST APIs, webhooks, SDKs, and middleware.
- Run WordPress audits and optimise performance independently.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to prioritise changes aligned to business needs.
Key Skills:
- Proven track record as a WordPress Developer.
- In-depth knowledge of WordPress core, including theme and plugin development.
- Strong experience with PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, MySQL, and modern development tooling.
- Experience with WP Engine or similar enterprise WordPress hosting platforms.
- Hands-on experience with integrations using REST APIs, JSON, OAuth, JWT, and secure authentication flows.
- Experience with payment integrations, ideally including Stripe, GoCardless, Apple Pay / Google Pay.
- Strong understanding of security best practices.
- Familiarity with Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and local dev environments.
- Ability to assess a WordPress estate and identify optimisation opportunities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
