Summary: The Senior Wintel Engineer will be responsible for applying patches, securing systems, and stabilizing core platforms within a large Windows-based infrastructure. This role is part of a remediation program aimed at reducing vulnerabilities across servers, clients, and virtualization technologies. The position is a 3-month contract based in Watford with hybrid working arrangements. The successful candidate will have a strong IT infrastructure background and relevant experience in Windows systems management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Remediating vulnerabilities across the Windows infrastructure estate.
- Applying patches using MS WSUS, SCCM, HPDM (HP Device Manager) and manual processes where required.
- Supporting environments including Windows Server 2019/2022, Windows 11, Windows Embedded, VMware 8, and Cisco switching.
- Ensuring systems remain secure, compliant, and up to date.
- Collaborating with infrastructure teams to improve patching processes and overall estate health.
Key Skills:
- Strong, broad IT infrastructure background.
- Solid experience with Windows OS, Windows Server, and Active Directory administration.
- Good hands-on knowledge of VMware (vSphere 8).
- Experience with HPDM or similar thin-client patching tools.
- Familiarity with WSUS and SCCM for patch deployment.
- Some exposure to Cisco switching (desirable, not essential).

We're looking for a Senior Wintel Engineer who will play a key role in applying patches, securing systems, and stabilising core platforms across servers, clients, and virtualisation technologies. We're supporting a remediation programme focused on reducing vulnerabilities across a large Windows-based infrastructure estate for our customer.
Your responsibilities as the Senior Wintel Engineer:
- Remediating vulnerabilities across the Windows infrastructure estate.
- Applying patches using MS WSUS, SCCM, HPDM (HP Device Manager) and manual processes where required.
- Supporting environments including Windows Server 2019/2022, Windows 11, Windows Embedded, VMware 8, and Cisco switching.
