Summary: The Senior Application Support Officer will lead a section of the Application Support Team at Bristol City Council, ensuring the effective operation of critical IT systems and applications. This role involves managing a team of up to 10 officers, overseeing daily operations, and coordinating system upgrades while maintaining high service quality. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, develop, and improve Application Support policies, processes, and standards.
- Oversee daily operations of the Application Support Function to ensure service levels are maintained and continuously improved.
- Lead and coordinate system upgrades and ensure timely issue escalation to suppliers or senior management.
- Liaise with suppliers and stakeholders to deliver best practice solutions and advice.
- Analyse performance data, identify improvements, and promote a customer-focused approach.
- Ensure compliance with data quality, data protection, and GDPR standards.
- Support ongoing service improvements and system developments aligned with legislative and organizational change.
- Measure and benchmark the performance of the Application Support Function to drive consistency and efficiency.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience with Unit4 ERP Finance systems, including user support and system management.
- Proven expertise in the Accounts Receivable (AR) module within Unit4 ERP.
- Leadership experience within an IT support or application management environment.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

The team’s work covers system upgrades, helpdesk support, user access management, and service requests — all while ensuring excellent communication and minimal disruption to users and stakeholders.
