Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for continual performance improvement of business-critical Operational Applications.
  • Authorize developments in current OT infrastructure and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Approve completion of Operational Acceptance Testing for OT Applications.
  • Provide a development environment for RTS Technical Engineers to enhance their technical knowledge.
  • Maintain and develop technical expertise for Platinum, Gold, and Silver level OT Applications.
  • Mentor RTS Technical Engineers and resolve serious Operational Application issues.

Key Skills:

  • Hands-on engineering or architectural expertise in GE Vernova PowerOn.
  • Knowledge of ADMS systems.
  • Understanding of SCADA systems.
  • Experience with AVEVA PI and ODMS.

Salary (Rate): £800 daily

About the role We’re seeking a Operational Technology Engineer for our IT client based in Edinburgh

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • OT Application Performance Improvement
  • Responsible for the continual performance improvement of the business-critical Operational Applications. This work includes improving monitoring and management of operational systems to reduce the number of faults that cause disruptions to the customer’s service and developing a Strategic Asset Management Plan for the OT Applications and Infrastructure.
  • Design Authority for development of OT Infrastructure
  • Responsible for authorising developments in current OT infrastructure working with the Application suppliers, SSE IT, Neos Networks and the SSE customer to develop, test and authorise any changes to architecture of existing Platinum, Gold and Silver level OT Applications.
  • Approval of Operational Application Upgrades
  • Responsible for authorising the completion of Operational Acceptance Testing for the infrastructure for the business-critical OT Applications. This includes approval of handover into support and approval of key no/no-go decisions.
  • Development of RTS Technical Engineers
  • Provide a development environment for ensuring that the RTS Technical Engineers have sufficient technical and application knowledge to be able to provide a robust Support Service and Project Engineering service for the portfolio of Operational Applications.
  • Technical Expertise
  • Maintain and continuously develop their own technical and procedural expertise to set the standards for others to follow. This work includes maintaining a technical and procedural expertise for the Platinum, Gold and Silver level OT Applications such as PowerOn, PI and ODMS, attending appropriate technical forums and contributing to the processes that develop documentation and technical standards.
  • Fault Analysis
  • The post holder will mentor the RTS Technical Engineers and work with the Operational Application internal and external service providers to investigate and resolve serious Operational Application issues in line with the Service Level Agreements that are in place with each customer.

Skills/Experience

  • Hands-on engineering or architectural, design or training subject matter expertise in the following:
  • GE Vernova PowerOn – highly desirable/essential (other tools/technology considered)
  • ADMS system knowledge
  • SCADA – Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems knowledge
  • AVEVA PI
  • ODMS – Operational Data Management Systems
