Summary: The SC Technical Architect role focuses on developing a next-gen C3I interoperability reference architecture for a UK defence programme. The position requires an SC-cleared architect who excels in defining standards and producing high-quality architecture artefacts. The role involves both remote work and occasional on-site presence in Portsmouth. The contract is initially for three months with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Helping define and evolve the reference architecture from early-stage foundations
- Creating/enforcing platform-wide standards for interoperability, security, deployment and operational observability
- Providing architecture input into engineering implementation teams
- Producing architecture design/systems requirements documentation to support reviews
- Feeding evidence-based insights into design reviews and technical assurance
- Supporting documentation required for customer approval and future deployment
Key Skills:
- Strong Technical Architecture experience in complex distributed systems (regulated/mission-critical)
- Track record of taking early concepts into mature, operationally deployable architectures
- Secure design expertise (eg, zero trust, identity, cross-domain, secure connectivity, data exchange controls)
- Comfort working in agile teams, influencing decisions and maintaining coherence
- Defence/NATO C3I interoperability awareness beneficial
- Tools/frameworks: Jira, Confluence, Visio; MoDAF beneficial
- Experience producing governance/assurance documentation beneficial
