Summary: The SAS Developer role involves end-to-end technical design and implementation of SAS solutions within a well-established UK retail and commercial bank. The position requires strong expertise in SAS technologies and experience with Basel III regulatory frameworks. The developer will be responsible for translating business requirements into functional SAS solutions and leading delivery teams. This contract position is based in Birmingham with a requirement for on-site presence two days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end technical design across SAS Enterprise Guide (EG), SAS DI, Base SAS, and SAS Viya environments
- Define and implement SAS development standards, optimisation approaches, and reusable frameworks
- Translate Basel III/Basel 3.1 business requirements into functional and technical SAS solutions
- Design and deliver SAS solutions supporting RWA, EAD, capital calculations, and regulatory reporting
Key Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with SAS technologies including SAS EG, SAS DI, Base SAS, and SAS Viya
- Proven delivery experience across Basel III/Basel 3.1 regulatory programmes
- Strong understanding of banking risk, capital, and regulatory reporting processes
- Experience producing technical design documentation and leading SAS delivery teams
- Experience with SAS cloud migration or platform modernisation programmes (desirable)
- Exposure to multiple UK banking environments and regulatory frameworks (desirable)
- Knowledge of SDLC, release governance, and quality management processes (desirable)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capabilities (desirable)
