Summary: The Workday HCM Lead role is a remote position focused on guiding an internal Workday HCM team through process optimization and operational readiness, particularly in the context of M&A onboarding and transitions. The ideal candidate will have a strong functional Workday background and experience in driving process maturity within HCM teams. This hands-on leadership role requires collaboration with stakeholders to improve workflows, documentation, and governance. The position is contract-based for 6 months with an immediate start date.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the functional lead and advisor to the Workday HCM team, supporting day-to-day operations and ongoing improvements.
  • Drive process refinement and standardisation across HCM-related activities, ensuring scalable and repeatable practices.
  • Design and implement operational processes to manage new M&A integrations, ensuring documentation, communication, and transition activities are smooth and consistent.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess current pain points, identify gaps, and introduce improvements across the employee lifecycle.
  • Support with documentation standards, process flows, team playbooks, and best practices to ensure knowledge retention and smoother onboarding of future team members or acquisitions.
  • Align Workday HCM operations with business and HR strategy, enabling a more proactive and agile function.
  • Act as a liaison between HR, IT, and business leadership to ensure expectations are met and opportunities for improvement are identified.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Workday HCM Lead, HCM Functional Consultant, or HCM Operations Lead.
  • Strong knowledge of Workday Core HCM and its application across HR operations and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Experience supporting or leading teams through process optimisation and operational transformation.
  • Background in M&A environments with hands-on involvement in the HR systems side of onboarding and integration.
  • Excellent documentation, process mapping, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and guiding others in a dynamic, remote-first environment.
  • Based in or available to work to UK/EU time zones.
