Summary: The role of Sr. VMware HCX/NSX Consultant involves designing and overseeing migration strategies from vSphere 8 to vSphere 9, with a focus on VMware HCX and NSX technologies. The consultant will lead migration planning, provide technical oversight, and ensure alignment with customer requirements throughout the migration lifecycle. Key Responsibilities:
- Define and design the end-to-end migration strategy for transitioning environments from vSphere 8 to vSphere 9
- Lead migration planning activities, including discovery, assessment, and workload categorization
- Provide technical oversight and governance throughout the migration lifecycle
- Design target architecture leveraging NSX (networking, security, segmentation) and HCX (mobility, replication, migration waves)
- Support or directly implement HCX deployments, including configuration of service meshes, network extensions, and mobility groups
- Define migration waves, cutover strategies, and rollback approaches to ensure minimal disruption
- Oversee and/or execute migration activities (bulk migrations, vMotion, replication-assisted migrations)
- Ensure alignment with customer operational, security, and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with customer teams and stakeholders to ensure successful execution and knowledge transfer
Key Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere (7/8) and migration to newer versions (vSphere 9 preferred/target)
- Proven experience with VMware HCX deployments and migration execution
- Solid understanding of VMware NSX (NSX-T), including networking, micro-segmentation, and security policies

Scope: HCX/NSX/Migration expertise. Will be designing the overall strategy for vSphere 8 to vSphere 9 migrations. In addition will provide migration planning/oversight, and potentially building/configuring HCX and migration execution.
