Summary: The role of Senior/Lead Power BI Consultant/Developer involves leading the design and delivery of Power BI solutions for a finance sector client. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and consulting skills to influence BI strategy and engage with senior stakeholders. The consultant will oversee reporting and analytics capabilities as part of a key transformation programme. Occasional travel to Yorkshire and London is expected, approximately once a month.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of Power BI solutions
- Act as the SME for all Power BI-related architecture and best practice
- Engage directly with senior finance and business stakeholders
- Translate complex business requirements into scalable reporting solutions
- Oversee data modelling and performance optimisation
- Provide guidance on BI governance, standards and roadmap
- Support and potentially mentor internal analysts or developers
Key Skills:
- Advanced Power BI (DAX, data modelling, optimisation, governance)
- Strong SQL skills
- Data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling
- Experience integrating multiple data sources
- Experience working within Azure environments (desirable)
- Understanding of ETL/data transformation pipelines
- Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills
- Proven experience leading Power BI programmes
- Experience within Financial Services or regulated environments
- Experience in Redress and Remediation
- Strong commercial acumen and consulting mindset
- Ability to operate independently and advise senior decision-makers
Salary (Rate): £500 daily

Finance Sector Client | Occasional travel to Yorkshire & London (c. 1x per month)
We are supporting a well-established Consultancy with finance business in securing a Senior/Lead Power BI Consultant to take ownership of their reporting and analytics capability across a key transformation programme.
This is a client-facing leadership role requiring both deep technical expertise and the ability to consult, influence and shape BI strategy with senior stakeholders.
The Role
You will:
- Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of Power BI solutions
- Act as the SME for all Power BI-related architecture and best practice
- Engage directly with senior finance and business stakeholders
- Translate complex business requirements into scalable reporting solutions
- Oversee data modelling and performance optimisation
- Provide guidance on BI governance, standards and roadmap
- Support and potentially mentor internal analysts or developers
This is not a pure development role - we require someone who can lead, consult and influence.
Required Technical Expertise
