Summary: The SAP Material Master Lead/Architect (Manufacturing) is responsible for defining and implementing end-to-end Master Data Management (MDM) architecture aligned with business strategies. This role involves designing data models, establishing data governance frameworks, and ensuring data quality within manufacturing domains. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions and lead MDM implementation projects. The role is remote and focuses on integrating MDM with enterprise systems while ensuring compliance and data governance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define end-to-end MDM architecture aligned with business and IT strategy
- Design data models for key manufacturing domains: Material Master, Product/SKU hierarchy, Vendor/Supplier Master, BOM & Routing, Plant/Location data
- Select and implement MDM tools (e.g., SAP Master Data Governance, Informatica MDM, Reltio)
- Establish data governance frameworks, policies, and standards
- Define data ownership, stewardship, and workflows
- Implement data quality rules, validation, and monitoring
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and audit requirements
- Understand manufacturing processes (discrete/process manufacturing)
- Align MDM solutions with ERP systems like SAP S/4HANA or Oracle ERP Cloud, PLM systems, and MES
- Handle complexities like multi-plant data harmonization and global vs local material definitions
- Design integrations between MDM and enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, SCM, Data Lakes)
- Define APIs, ETL processes, and data synchronization strategies
- Work with middleware and integration platforms
- Work with business teams (supply chain, procurement, production, engineering)
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Lead workshops, data governance councils, and design sessions
- Lead MDM implementation projects end-to-end
- Define roadmaps, timelines, and deliverables
- Ensure scalability, performance, and security of MDM solutions
