Summary: Our client seeks a Senior Virtualization Engineer/Infrastructure Architect to lead VMware Migration and Transformation initiatives within a global enterprise. The role involves designing and executing migrations from VMware to Nutanix AHV, ensuring technical ownership from assessment to operational stabilization. The position allows for remote work with occasional international travel. The contract duration is 12 months, starting as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess current VMware environments and define target architecture for Nutanix
- Design and execute VMware to Nutanix (and optionally Azure) migrations
- Plan Migration waves, cutovers, validation, and rollback procedures
- Build and validate lab/PoC environments
- Execute and troubleshoot workload migrations across compute, storage, network, and OS layers
- Ensure HA, resiliency, backup/DR, and Day-2 operational readiness
- Automate provisioning and configuration where feasible
- Produce documentation and transfer knowledge to internal teams
- Collaborate with application, network, and security stakeholders in a global program
Key Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with Nutanix (AOS, AHV, Prism) in production
- Strong VMware vSphere background and proven VMware exit/migration experience
- Solid Linux administration skills and automation mindset (Ansible; scripting)
- Understanding of data center networking, storage, and enterprise backup/DR (e.g., Veeam)
- Ability to take full technical ownership and work independently
- Fluent English
- Nutanix Move, Calm, Flow, or NC2 (nice to have)
- Monitoring/observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace) (nice to have)
- Security hardening and regulated environment experience (nice to have)
- VMware to Azure migration experience (nice to have)
