Summary: The role of Environmental Engineering – AI Data Trainer involves leveraging expertise in environmental engineering to train and enhance AI models. Candidates will design complex environmental challenges, author technical solutions, audit AI outputs for accuracy, and refine AI reasoning. This position offers the flexibility of remote work and the opportunity to contribute to advanced AI projects at the intersection of environmental science and technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Complex Problems — Create advanced environmental engineering challenges spanning contaminant transport, mass balance in treatment plants, hydrology, and Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to stress-test AI reasoning
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions — including chemical dosage calculations, hydraulic flow models, and pollutant dispersion simulations — that serve as reference-quality "golden responses"
- Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated remediation plans, environmental impact statements, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy, regulatory compliance (EPA, ISO 14001), and safety
- Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors such as incorrect stoichiometry in biological processes or failure to account for secondary environmental impacts, and provide structured feedback to improve model quality
- Work Independently — Complete task-based assignments on your own schedule with full remote flexibility
Key Skills:
- Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering (with environmental focus), or a closely related field
- Strong foundational knowledge in at least one core area: aquatic chemistry, wastewater process design, air quality engineering, or hazardous waste remediation
- Able to communicate complex engineering and ecological concepts clearly and precisely in writing
- High attention to detail — especially for unit conversions, chemical equations, and regulatory compliance logic
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on technical tasks
- No prior AI experience required
- Experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation systems (nice to have)
- Familiarity with environmental modeling software (e.g., AERMOD, SWMM, GoldSim) (nice to have)
- Background in EHS compliance or environmental impact assessment (nice to have)
