Summary: The role of Manufacturing Process Engineer involves optimizing manufacturing, assembly, and testing processes within the Defence sector to enhance productivity and quality. The position requires a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to implement Lean methodologies while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The engineer will identify inefficiencies and drive operational excellence across manufacturing processes. This contract role is based on-site in Hampshire until November 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimize manufacturing, assembly, and testing processes to improve productivity and reduce costs.
  • Identify inefficiencies and resolve production issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
  • Support production activities and lead problem-solving efforts.
  • Implement Lean methodologies to enhance operational performance.

Key Skills:

  • HNC / HND qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Strong experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement tools.
  • Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience implementing PFMEA, 5S, and Asset Care programmes.
  • Strong problem-solving experience (8D, RCA, DMAIC, PSP).
  • Experience working within electro-mechanical assembly environments.
  • Experience supporting electronics and hardware manufacturing processes.
  • Experience troubleshooting non-conformances and implementing corrective actions.
  • Understanding of assembly and testing principles (manual and automated).
  • Experience with MRP systems (IFS desirable).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • Experience driving change and improvement projects across teams.

Salary (Rate): £382.50 per day

THE PROCESS ENGINEER ROLE

As a Process Engineer, you will play a key role in optimising manufacturing, assembly, and testing processes to improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance quality. You will be responsible for identifying inefficiencies, resolving production issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the business. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will support production activities, lead problem-solving efforts, and implement Lean methodologies to improve operational performance.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • HNC / HND qualified in a relevant engineering discipline
