Summary: The Linux System Admin/Engineer role involves acting as a primary technical escalation point for critical customer issues, delivering exceptional support through advanced troubleshooting and collaboration with various teams. The position requires a deep understanding of Linux systems and the ability to mentor junior engineers while contributing to documentation and knowledge sharing. Candidates must possess significant experience in Linux administration and hold relevant certifications. Flexibility for evening or weekend shifts is also required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a primary technical escalation point for critical, high-impact customer issues, resolving complex architectural and performance-related challenges.
- Deliver outstanding customer support by leveraging deep technical expertise and advanced troubleshooting methodologies to guide customers through critical system recoveries and complex deployments.
- Efficiently analyze reported issues to identify root causes at the system and source-code level, communicating clear, strategic resolution plans to technical and executive stakeholders.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with support engineers, development, and product management to advocate for bug fixes, feature requests, and comprehensive systemic solutions.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level support engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning within the team.
- Author, review, and curate advanced diagnostic documentation, contributing high-value knowledge base articles and reusable solutions to optimize global incident resolution.
Key Skills:
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of advanced Linux systems administration or engineering expertise, with mastery of networking, firewall configuration, security protocols, clustering, web server management, and databases.
- Deep architectural understanding of Linux operating systems and a comprehensive, expert-level grasp of Red Hat's product suite.
- Advanced proficiency in utilizing Linux command-line tools and debugging utilities, with a strong emphasis on bash scripting, kernel crash analysis, performance profiling, strace, Wireshark, and Git.
- Proven experience handling high-visibility escalations and interacting confidently with enterprise customers, third-party vendors, and internal engineering teams.
- Self-motivated with strong technical judgment, capable of autonomous decision-making in high-pressure, critical-down situations.
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification is required (or must be obtained within a specified timeframe upon hire).
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline.
- Flexibility to cover evening or weekend shift duties on a rotating basis as needed.
- Must complete a background check as part of the hiring process.

Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience mentoring technical staff or leading technical projects within a support or engineering environment.
- Experience in highly regulated industries (Healthcare, Banking, Government).
- Deep, demonstrable expertise with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), or Red Hat Satellite.
- Relevant experience as a Tier 3/Escalation engineer for a PaaS provider, hosting service, or large-scale enterprise environment.
- Development-level experience with programming languages (Go, Python, C, .NET) to assist in reading and debugging source code.
- Advanced credentials such as Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA).
