Summary: The Lead Technical Architect role focuses on designing and delivering enterprise-scale data and analytics solutions, specifically utilizing SAS Viya and Microsoft Azure. The position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions. The successful candidate will guide delivery teams and define architectural strategies within a public sector context. Active SC clearance is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead architecture design across networking, security, presentation, middleware, database, and integration layers
- Define and maintain architecture principles, standards, patterns, and best practices
- Provide technical leadership to architects and delivery teams within the programme
- Create and manage a 2-5 year architectural roadmap
- Work closely with project and engineering teams throughout the delivery lifecycle
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions with clear traceability to stakeholder outcomes
- Produce architecture artefacts using modelling tools and documentation standards
- Design data integration solutions across multiple data sources including ERP, CRM, IoT, and operational systems
- Oversee implementation of real-time data pipelines and batch processing solutions
- Support architecture for data warehousing, data lakes, analytics, BI, and MI reporting capabilities
- Provide guidance on analytics tooling, reporting design patterns, and best practice

- Strong experience with SAS Viya
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Azure
- Strong ETL/data integration background
- Experience designing enterprise architecture across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

- Experience working across the full project lifecycle from concept through to go-live
- Strong leadership capability, including mentoring or leading other architects
- Experience defining architectural roadmaps (2-5 years)
- Previous SAS experience beyond Viya (desirable)

- Knowledge of architecture principles, standards, patterns, and technical governance frameworks (desirable)
