Summary: The Lead Software Engineer will oversee a team of Java Developers within a prestigious government organization, focusing on building automated test suites and server-side web applications. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead or direct a team of Java Developers.

Key Skills:
- Significant experience in modern software engineering for digital products (ideally Java, microservice architectures, Hexagonal software architecture, Mongo, and Kafka).
- Experience in designing and implementing modern cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and automation (ideally AWS, Terraform, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
- Knowledge of unix-like operating systems such as Linux and/or Mac OS X.
Salary (Rate): £750.00 daily

My client are a prestigious government organisation, seeking a Lead Software Engineer to lead / direct a team of Java Developers.
Contract Length:12 Months
Location: Leeds / Manchester / Newcastle - 60 % in the office
IR35: in scope
Pay Rate to Candidate: Up to £750 per day DOE
Security Clearance: BPSS but candidates must be eligible for SC Clearance
The successful candidate will:
- Lead or direct a team of Java Developers.
- Build a useful, robust automated test suite to support a continuous deployment environment, implementing API's for internal and external use.
- Take part in 2nd-line support of applications and platforms and help build server-side web applications.
- Be able to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Maintain system administration and configuration management skills with experience in handling large data sets and scaling their handling and storage.
- Build a scale high-traffic websites and maintain an understanding of web architecture.
