Summary: The IBM Z Technical Specialist – Db2 System Programmer is tasked with managing and maintaining the Db2 environment on IBM Z platforms, focusing on installation, customization, upgrades, and ongoing support. This role ensures system stability, performance, and security while contributing to improvements in the mainframe ecosystem. The position requires a blend of technical expertise and strong problem-solving skills to support complex database operations effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Db2 for z/OS and associated tools.
  • Support Db2 environment operations, including upgrades, maintenance, and functional testing of backup systems.
  • Perform performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization of Db2 systems.
  • Manage database security, including implementation of RACF/ACF2 access controls.
  • Support and maintain third-party tools from IBM, Broadcom, and other vendors.
  • Contribute to database planning, design, and capacity management.
  • Ensure system availability through disaster recovery planning and support.
  • Provide operational support and handle incident resolution, escalations, and coordination with support teams.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Key Skills:

  • Strong expertise in Db2 for z/OS, including installation, customization, and maintenance.

  • In-depth knowledge of relational database concepts.

Role Overview
