Summary: The Health Care Support Worker for Specialist Community Paediatrics at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde will provide person-centered care to service users and families in their homes or community settings. Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out clinical duties as delegated by the SCPT Nursing Team.
  • Assist clients/families in relevant settings to address health promotion activities.
  • Assist with the delivery of various clinics, e.g., Immunisation, venepuncture.
  • Accurately report back to SCPT Nursing team following home visits or other client-related work.
  • Signpost families to appropriate services as identified in care plans.
  • Provide practical support for parents and children within the home or in accessing other services.
  • Assist with stock control and ordering of pharmacy and supplies.
  • Assist with basic administrative tasks such as filing and storage of records.
  • Attend staff meetings and clinical and mandatory training.
  • Participate in systems of practice support and personal development planning.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records ensuring compliance with relevant acts.
  • Work within national, organisational and local policies to ensure safe practices.
  • Work with an awareness of cultural differences and respect for colleagues and communities.

The Role

The SCPT Nursing service operates an open access policy that is currently available Monday to Friday excluding Public Holidays. Care needs are prioritised and teams must be able to respond to both planned and unplanned interventions. The post holder will participate in the care of service users / families in their own home or community setting under the direction of a SCPT Nursing team, taking into account the lifestyle, race, gender and cultural background, and factors which impact on physical, mental or emotional health. The post holder will represent the values and beliefs of the SCPT Nursing service as well as that of the organisation. The Healthcare Assistant will be responsible for delivering safe, efficient and person centred care to service users / families, as delegated and directed by the SCPT Nursing team. The post holder will support the SCPT Nursing team in the delivery of care to service users, families / carers. The post holder will promote a culture of engagement with service users, families / carers, which includes as core principles and values an approach which is caring, compassionate, courteous, empathetic and respectful.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Location based in Aranthrue Centre
Fixed-term Contract (23 months duration)
Part-time position (11 hours per week)
Working hours for this post are from 0830 - 1630

Key Responsibilities

The post holder will:

  • Carry out clinical duties as delegated by the SCPT Nursing Team:
  • Assist clients / families in relevant settings to address health promotion activities that can positively improve health and wellbeing
  • Assist with the delivery of a variety of clinics e.g. Immunisation, venepuncture
  • Accurately report back to SCPT Nursing team following home visits or other client related work
  • To signpost families to range of appropriate services to support their needs as identified in care plans
  • To provide practical support for parents and children within the home or in terms of accessing other services and supports
  • Carry out other duties to support the SCPT Nursing team:
  • Assist with stock control and ordering of pharmacy and supplies as deemed appropriate by team.
  • Assist with basic administrative tasks as required such as filing and storage of records, compiling information packs, photocopying.
  • Attend staff meetings and clinical and mandatory training and be encouraged to record their training participation and learning experiences in Knowledge and Skills Framework.
  • Participate in systems of practice support and personal development planning in line with the Knowledge and Skills Framework
  • Maintain accurate and up to date clinical records ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act in discussion with SCPT Nurse supervising case.
  • Work within national, organisational and local policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure maintenance of safe, person centred and effective practices working practices for children, young people and families.
  • To work with an awareness of cultural differences and be respectful of those with regard to colleagues, children, families, young people, and communities.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
