Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain software using Python and Django
  • Clearly communicate technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with other engineers, including pair programming, and take the lead when the Tech Lead is unavailable
  • Work with third-party suppliers to design and implement system integrations
  • Contribute to planning, delivery, and continuous improvement within an Agile team
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code aligned to product requirements
  • Support and coach junior developers, promoting best practices and knowledge sharing

Key Skills:

  • Strong experience with Python and Flask or Django
  • Proven experience with TDD and BDD driven by product requirements
  • Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum or Kanban)
  • Strong exposure to XP practices, particularly pair programming
  • Familiarity with RESTful web applications
  • Experience working with queueing systems
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Solid knowledge of relational databases and performance optimisation
  • Basic understanding of HTML and web accessibility standards
  • Ability to work with the NHS Frontend Toolkit

Overview

This is a collaborative role within an Agile environment, with opportunities to lead technical delivery when required.
