Finance Systems Consultant

A well-established not for profit organisation is seeking an experienced Finance System Consultant to support the implementation of a new finance system ahead of a planned go-live in July 2026. This is a part-time role, initially two days per week, increasing to three days per week as the programme approaches go-live. The position offers hybrid working, with a base in the Huntingdon area and flexibility to attend other locations as required for effective delivery. Reporting to the Finance Director, the consultant will take responsibility for coordinating and supporting the end-to-end implementation of the new finance system. Working closely with the finance team, external suppliers and a range of internal stakeholders, the role will focus on ensuring a smooth transition, robust controls, and the delivery of improved reporting and process efficiency. Key responsibilities include leading and coordinating the implementation programme, managing delivery plans and risks, and acting as the primary liaison with the external supplier. The role will review existing finance processes, identify opportunities for automation and efficiency, and support the design of improved workflows and real-time reporting. The consultant will facilitate workshops, provide regular progress updates to senior stakeholders, and support post-go-live optimisation and continuous improvement. This role will work alongside finance operations teams but will not carry direct line management responsibility. Candidates will bring a strong track record of delivering finance transformation or system implementation programmes in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. A deep understanding of finance processes, controls and reporting is essential, along with strong project management, stakeholder engagement and change management capability. The ability to translate technical and financial concepts for non-specialist audiences is critical, as is a high level of independence, judgement and integrity. Experience within charity, public sector or regulated environments is advantageous but not essential. Interested applicants should be qualified – CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent.
