Summary: The Finance Manager role is a 6-month fixed-term contract for a rapidly growing fintech lender, reporting directly to the CFO. The position involves overseeing the finance department's daily operations, managing monthly accounts, and supporting year-end accounting and audits. The candidate will also be responsible for streamlining finance processes and automating reporting for investors and debt funders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily running of the finance department, including outsourced bookkeeping activities.
- Manage the monthly management accounts process, including journal postings and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
- Support year-end accounting reporting and the first external audit.
- Calculate monthly and quarterly interest, facility fees, and commissions.
- Take end-to-end ownership of the loan book and cash reconciliations.
- Streamline and document finance processes, identifying automation opportunities for reporting.
Key Skills:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with management and financial accounting experience.
- Experience in financial services, preferably in alternative lending, banking, or payments.
- Advantageous experience in loan operations, including interest calculations and loan reconciliations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced start-up environment with a hands-on approach.

Ownership of the monthly management accounts process including journal postings and BS recs through to TB Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns Supporting the year end accounting reporting including their first external audit Monthly and quarterly interest, facility fee and commission calculations End to end ownership of the loan book and cash recs Supporting the streamlining and documentation of finance processes and identifying ways to further automate and scale reporting to investors and debt funders.
What skills will you need? Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with experience within management and financial accounting and reporting Experience working within financial services ideally an alternative lending type business, banking or payments Any experience of loan operations (interest calculations, debt holder payments, loan recs etc) an advantage Comfortable working within a fast paced start-up environment, happy being hands on and in the detail What about hybrid working? 1 to 2 days per week in the London office, can be flexible as required.
