Summary: The Data Protection Privacy Specialist role is a 5-month contract focused on maintaining compliance and supporting the Data Governance team during a period of expansion. The position requires expertise in UK GDPR and data protection principles, along with experience in risk assessments and collaboration with various stakeholders. The role is hybrid, primarily based in London, but can also accommodate Bristol or Manchester. The contractor will work closely with the Data Protection Lead to ensure responsible data collection and utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Data Governance team during recruitment of new civil servants.
  • Support risk assessments for new and developing tools.
  • Work closely with the Data Protection Lead to assess analytics and explore legislative opportunities.
  • Conduct and support Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
  • Advise on data sharing agreements and implement data transfer mechanisms.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Privacy qualifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM) are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in delivering data protection advice within digital projects, especially involving AI or Machine Learning.
  • Demonstrable ability to conduct DPIAs with a collaborative attitude.
  • Experience advising on data sharing agreements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in or with the public sector is desirable.

DATA PROTECTION PRIVACY SPECIALIST - 5 MONTH CONTRACT - £650 PD OUTSIDE IR35 - SC OR BPSS MINIMUM - HYBRID LONDON BUT CAN BE FLEXIBLE WITH BRISTOL OR MANCHESTER


Hybrid role in either London, Bristol or Manchester. The official expectation is for the worker to attend their base office 2 days per week, however the team is flexible with this and happy to accommodate one day per week upon discussion. Periodic travel to London for team meets/away days will be required

This role is to help maintain compliance and support delivery during a period of expansion within the client. This reuires a contractor to assist the Data Governance team while new civil servants are recruited. The assignment will involve supporting risk assessments for new and developing tools. In addition, the assignment will include working closely with the Data Protection Lead to assess the analytics position and explore legislative and policy opportunities to enable responsible data collection and utilisation.

Skills -

Expert Legal Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, including a comprehensive understanding of data protection principles and individual rights. Privacy qualifications (eg, CIPP/E, CIPM) are highly desirable.

Technical AI Experience: Proven experience delivering data protection advice and work within digital projects, preferably involving Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning systems.

Risk Assessment: Demonstrable ability to conduct and support Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) with a collaborative, pragmatic, and enabling attitude.

Data Governance: Experience advising on data sharing agreements and implementing appropriate data transfer mechanisms.

Collaboration Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Public Sector Experience (Desirable): Experience working in or with the public sector and an understanding of government ways of working.
