Summary: TLT is seeking experienced Senior Paralegals for a contract role within their Public Inquiries, Inquests, and Public Law team. The position involves managing complex legal matters and requires immediate availability for a full-time, office-based role in London. Candidates will work on high-profile cases that influence public accountability and governance. This is an initial three-month contract with the possibility of extension, paid via an umbrella company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage own caseloads independently and contribute to complex investigations and disclosure processes.
  • Review and categorize evidence and contracts, using e-disclosure platforms and AI contract review tools.
  • Provide regular updates on progress and take detailed instructions from fee earners.
  • Assist in evidence gathering, collation, and publication, including document review and creation of e-bundles.
  • Work on hearings, including arrangements with the Court and liaising with core participants.

Key Skills:

  • UK Qualifying Law Degree (GDL or LLB) with commendation or 2:1 or higher.
  • 12+ months Paralegal experience managing caseloads and investigations.
  • Basic understanding of public law concepts and previous experience in public inquiries.
  • Strong organizational skills, resilience, and flexibility.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure.
  • Desirable experience with case management systems and e-disclosure platforms.
  • Team player with initiative and effective working methods.
  • SC/DV Clearance is desirable.

TLT is seeking ambitious, experienced, and self-motivated Senior Paralegals with a genuine passion for public law to join our highly regarded Public Inquiries, Inquests and Public Law (PIIPL) team on a contract basis. This role is an initial 3 month contract, with chance of extension, and will be paid on a day rate via an Umbrella company. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex, high-profile matters that shape public accountability and governance. You’ll be part of a collaborative and expert team, contributing to meaningful legal work that has real-world impact.

What we’re looking for:

  • Due to the nature of the work, this role is full-time and office-based in London, so candidates must reside within a commutable distance to our London office.

Your Role

  • Developing an understanding of complex issues in order to review and categorise a wide range of evidence and contracts.
  • Using e-disclosure platforms and specific systems (full training provided) to implement both relevance and redaction policies and decisions, to provide disclosure to relevant stakeholders.
  • Using AI contract review tools (full training provided) and individual legal skills to identify and advise on key contract terms and themes.
  • Taking detailed instructions from fee earners within the team and providing regular updates on progress.
  • Instructing Counsel on key matters related to the Inquiry.
  • Assistance on all elements of evidence gathering, collation and publication including work on e-disclosure platforms to undertake document review, tagging and creation of e-bundles for the purposes of obtaining evidence from witnesses.
  • Work in relation to Restriction Orders, involving liaising closely with counsel and solicitors in relation to applications to restrict evidence, applying redactions and undertaking all necessary tasks required.
  • Work on hearings, Including making arrangements with the Court, liaising with core participants, creating bundles, attending hearings and undertaking any follow-up work.

Your Skills and Experience

  • A UK Qualifying Law Degree (GDL or LLB, achieving a commendation or 2:1 or higher).
  • 12+ months Paralegal experience managing caseloads and undertaking investigations.
  • A basic understanding of public law concepts, including challenges and remedies.
  • Previous experience working on a public inquiry.
  • Accuracy, good organisational skills, resilience, and flexibility.
  • Previous experience using case management systems and e-disclosure platforms such as Relativity is desirable but not essential.
  • A proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, work under pressure and prioritise work from various stakeholders.
  • A proven, strong team-player, able to work with colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds to achieve a shared goal.
  • Willing to take direction but also to use own initiative to develop effective ways of working.
  • SC/DV Clearance is desirable.
