Summary: The role of Contract Power BI Specialist involves leading the development of a new greenfield reporting and analytics platform for a leading commodities and energy trading firm. The specialist will be responsible for creating scalable reporting solutions and serving as a Subject Matter Expert in BI architecture and data modeling. This position is hybrid, requiring three days per week in the office, and is set for an initial six-month contract with a multiyear scope. The role demands strong experience in Power BI and familiarity with the commodities or energy trading sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of scalable reporting solutions using Power BI.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert in BI architecture, data modeling, and Power BI development.
- Shape the organization’s modern reporting capability within a cloud data environment.
- Implement data visualization techniques and advanced DAX functionalities.
- Design semantic models and star schemas for effective data architecture.
- Manage ETL processes and utilize tools like DBT and IBM Data Manager.
- Oversee DevOps practices including version control and CI/CD.
- Optimize capacity and manage licenses for BI tools.
Key Skills:
- Expertise in Power BI, data visualization, and Power BI Service.
- Advanced knowledge of DAX, Tabular Editor, and DAX Studio.
- Experience with semantic design and star schemas.
- Familiarity with databases and platforms such as Snowflake and Azure Databricks.
- Proficient in ETL processes and data engineering.
- Understanding of DevOps practices including GitHub and CI/CD.
- Background in commodities or energy trading environments.
