Summary: The role of Interim AWS Security Architect involves supporting a large-scale cloud security program for a major financial services organization. The contract is initially for six months with a strong likelihood of extension, primarily remote with occasional days in the City of London. Key Responsibilities:

Key Skills:
- Strong experience as an AWS Security Architect within financial services.
- Proven track record in designing and securing AWS-native applications.
- Deep expertise in container security, particularly EKS and service mesh environments.
- Strong understanding of AWS network security, including VPC design and segmentation.
- Experience in low-latency or trading environments is desirable.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and IaC security controls.

Interim AWS Security Architect – Financial Services
Robert Half is supporting a global consulting firm in engaging an experienced AWS Security Architect as an interim associate to support a large-scale cloud security programme for a major financial services organisation. This role will focus on deep AWS application and infrastructure security , working closely with engineering teams and AWS as a strategic partner to design and secure cloud-native platforms.
Assignment Details:
- Start : c. 2-3 week onboarding lead time
- Location : Primarily remote, with flexibility for occasional days in the City of London
- Contract Duration : Initial 6-month contract (strong likelihood of extension)
- Day Rate : £ 600 p/day PAYE + 12.07% via PAYE (Employer’s NI & tax deducted at source – no umbrella company admin fees)
Key Experience Needed:
- Strong experience as an AWS Security Architect within financial services (ideally banking)
- Proven track record designing and securing AWS-native applications (not just governance or oversight)
- Deep expertise in container security , particularly EKS and service mesh environments
- Strong understanding of AWS network security , including VPC design, segmentation, firewalling, and Direct Connect
- Experience working directly with AWS as a supplier , providing independent security assurance and challenge
- Ability to operate at both low-level design (LLD) and enterprise architecture levels
Desirable Experience:
- Experience within low-latency or trading environments
- Exposure to AWS Outposts design and security
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and IaC security controls
