Summary: The Senior Automation Engineer role focuses on supporting a leading medical device organization by optimizing manufacturing systems within a regulated environment. The position requires expertise in automation technologies and compliance with industry regulations. Ideal candidates will have a strong technical background and a desire to advance their careers in the medical device sector. This is a 12-month contract classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support, maintain, and optimize manufacturing systems within a regulated medical device environment.
- Work with a range of automation and control technologies, including PLCs, camera inspection systems, and factory automation infrastructure.
- Perform computer system validation activities in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Configure, manage, and maintain manufacturing databases and IT network integrations.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings to support system upgrades, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure systems meet regulatory requirements, including 21 CFR Part 11.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.
Key Skills:
- Technical degree or background (Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or similar).
- Experience with manufacturing systems and factory automation.
- Hands-on controls and PLC experience (Rockwell preferred).
- Experience with camera or vision systems.
- Knowledge of computer system validation, database configuration, and IT networks.
- Strong understanding of the automation pyramid and system integration.
- Previous experience in the medical device sector is highly advantageous.
