Summary: The EHS Advisor role involves implementing and monitoring health and safety management systems, ensuring compliance with Irish legislation, and conducting site inspections. The position also includes managing environmental controls and promoting a positive safety culture within a solar farm hub. The advisor will be responsible for training initiatives and acting as a point of contact for health, safety, and environmental queries. This role requires a proactive approach to incident investigation and compliance reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and monitor the project Health & Safety Management System
  • Ensure compliance with Irish H&S legislation, including the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks
  • Review and approve risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and safe systems of work
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and inductions for site personnel and contractors
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, producing reports and corrective actions
  • Liaise with site management, contractors, and external stakeholders on H&S matters
  • Monitor environmental controls and compliance with planning conditions and environmental permits
  • Support implementation of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP)
  • Manage waste segregation, pollution prevention, and protection of local habitats
  • Report and respond to environmental incidents
  • Promote a positive safety culture across the solar farm hub
  • Support training initiatives and competency checks
  • Act as a point of contact for HSE queries on site

Key Skills:

  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Relevant HSE qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a similar HSE role, ideally within construction, renewables, or utilities
  • Strong knowledge of Irish H&S and environmental legislation
  • Experience working on large infrastructure or renewable energy projects (solar preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to influence and engage site teams and contractors
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-focused
  • Competent in incident reporting and root cause analysis
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, site-based environment
